Most villas on Flamands promise "walking distance" to the beach. Tichka has its own staircase through the oleander down to the sand—no road, no gate, no neighbors to squeeze past. Perched as the final house on the bay's eastern hillside, it's the rare private rental where you can be barefoot on the beach 90 seconds after finishing your morning espresso, then back up for a swim in the glass-tiled infinity pool without ever changing towels.
The Experience
Tichka is chic without being showy—two bedrooms, capacity for four, and a footprint that feels engineered around the view rather than the square footage. The teak deck wraps a colorful mosaic pool that reads almost turquoise against the sea beyond it, and the sightline runs uninterrupted across Flamands Bay to the volcanic hump of Île Fourchue, with St. Martin and Anguilla smudged on the horizon at sunset. Because it's the last house on the eastern end of the bay, wind and noise die out; you get the sound of the surf and very little else. Days here fall into a specific rhythm: pool, staircase, sand, back up for lunch on the terrace, repeat. What to Try
Time a swim for late afternoon when the sun drops behind the western headland and the pool tiles light up gold. Walk the length of Flamands beach at low tide toward Cheval Blanc for a rosé lunch, then loop back via the sand—it's one of the flattest, longest stretches of white sand on the island and rarely crowded past the hotel section. From the villa's staircase you're also perfectly placed to snorkel the rockier eastern point where Flamands meets the cliffs.

The private beach staircase is Tichka's real luxury, but it's also the villa's most fragile feature—rain and salt wear the treads, so most guests miss that the best access is actually at first light, before the trade winds pick up and while Flamands is still empty. Bring reef shoes; the last two steps meet coral-scattered sand, not the powder further west. And request a stocked kitchen on arrival through the rental agency rather than doing a Marigot supermarket run yourself—the drive back up the Flamands hill with a car full of groceries is nobody's idea of a vacation start.
