Tucked high above the eastern coast in Vitet, this casual two-bedroom villa trades hotel formality for its own breezy terrace, petite plunge pool, and a panorama that sweeps from the turquoise lagoon of Grand Cul-de-Sac all the way to St Martin and Anguilla on the horizon.
The Experience
La Montagne feels less like a rental and more like being handed the keys to a friend's island house. The interiors keep things simple — seaside-casual furnishings, driftwood tones, an air-conditioned living room with Apple TV, and a compact kitchen that has everything you actually need. The real living happens outside: a generous terrace wraps the villa with covered lounging on one side, sunny dining on the other, and a small pool built more for cooling off than for laps. Trade winds funnel up the hillside all day, so even at midday it stays comfortable. By late afternoon the light softens over the lagoon, kite sails flicker across Grand Cul-de-Sac far below, and this quiet corner of Vitet becomes one of the best sunset seats on the island.
What to Try
Slow mornings on the terrace with a coffee run down to Lorient's boulangerie, then a swim at Grand Cul-de-Sac or a paddleboard rental at the lagoon. Come back for a long afternoon on the shaded end of the terrace — book, breeze, plunge pool, repeat — before driving into Gustavia for dinner and the harbor stroll. On rainier days, both bedrooms have queens, en-suite/near-suite bathrooms, Apple TVs, and direct terrace access, so it's the rare 2BR that works equally well for a couple treating it as a suite or two couples splitting the villa.
Insider Tip
The 'petite' pool is honest branding — it's a cool-off pool, not a swim pool. If serious pool time matters, plan beach mornings and treat the plunge as a sunset ritual. Also: the villa is up a hill in Vitet, so a rental car isn't optional; taxi round-trips to Gustavia add up fast, and the drive down the mountain in the dark is easier when it's your own car.

Two bedrooms, both queens, each with Apple TV and terrace access; master is en-suite. Air-conditioned living areas, ceiling-fan bedrooms, full (compact) kitchen, Wi-Fi, easy-access driveway with a ramp. Roughly 5–7 minutes down to Grand Cul-de-Sac and Lorient beaches, ~15 minutes to Gustavia and the airport. Address lists a Gustavia postal code, but the physical location is in the Vitet hills on the east side of the island.
