Villa Jade Saint-Barth

An iconic Balinese-Caribbean estate perched above the Marigot lagoon

Why Go

Behind a discreet gate on route D209, eight bedrooms scatter across pavilions and cottages around a 137-foot heated infinity pool that seems to spill straight into the turquoise Cul-de-Sac lagoon — this is the kind of St Barth hideaway that guests book by word-of-mouth and return to for decades.

The Experience

Villa Jade doesn't feel like a hotel and it doesn't quite feel like a rental villa either; it lives somewhere between an artist's home and a private members' resort. The main pavilion opens completely to the sea breeze, its living room, bar, and professional kitchen flowing onto a terrace where the dining table seats sixteen. Five suites sit in their own bungalows tucked into the tropical garden, each designed as its own small work of art with hand-picked Balinese furniture, teak accents, and framed ocean views. Days here have a rhythm: sunrise coffee on your private terrace, a morning stretch in the fitness cottage or a session in the hammam and massage room, long lazy hours by the pool with the lagoon shimmering below, and evenings that drift from the wine cave to the private cinema. A concierge and, if you like, a private chef and butler quietly make everything happen in the background. It's built for multigenerational families, close-knit groups of friends, or the kind of small corporate retreat where nobody wants to admit they're working.

What to Try

Book the full villa buy-out and split the pavilions so each couple or family has its own private bungalow — then reconvene at the long outdoor table for a private-chef dinner as the sun drops behind the morne. Order the in-villa massage in the dedicated wellness cottage rather than heading out for a spa, and use the hammam and sauna afterwards. Spend at least one evening in the private cinema with something from the wine cave; it's the kind of quiet luxury the island's restaurants can't replicate.

Insider Tip

Marigot feels sleepy compared with Gustavia or Saint-Jean, and that's precisely the point — you're a four-minute drive from a local market, ten minutes from the airport, and a fifteen-minute walk down to Grand Cul-de-Sac beach, but the villa itself is buffered by garden and hillside. Ask the concierge to arrange a boat pickup from the lagoon side rather than driving to Gustavia; it turns a routine dinner reservation into the best part of the evening.
