Cheval Blanc Spa by Guerlain
A Guerlain sanctuary tucked into a tropical garden above Flamands Bay.
Why Go
This isn't the kind of hotel spa you drop into for a quick manicure — it's a five-cabin Guerlain outpost hidden in the palms behind one of St Barth's most storied crescents of white sand, where beauty coaches design your ritual before your feet ever hit the massage table.
The Experience
The spa sits inside the Tropical Garden of Cheval Blanc St-Barth, a low-slung series of pavilions half-swallowed by hibiscus, frangipani and coconut palms. Five treatment rooms open onto private terraces, a discreet sauna is tucked at the back, and the pièce de résistance is an open-air pavilion built for two — the kind of teak-and-linen cabana where four-hand massages happen to a soundtrack of tree frogs and distant surf from Baie des Flamands. Rather than picking a treatment off a laminated menu, you meet a Guerlain-trained beauty coach who reads your skin, your jet lag and your afternoon plans before assembling a bespoke ritual using the house's Orchidée Impériale and Abeille Royale ranges. Expect long, unhurried sessions, cold hibiscus tea between courses, and the sense that the therapists have been quietly perfecting the same rituals for regulars season after season.
What to Try
The Caribbean signature ritual — it opens with a warm vanilla scrub for hands and feet, then flows into a full-body massage that alternates hot stones, cold marble and varying pressures to mimic the rhythm of the tide. Book it in the outdoor garden pavilion at golden hour, when the light through the palms does most of the aromatherapy for you. If you're travelling as a couple, the four-hand duo version in the same cabana is the splurge worth splurging on.
Insider Tip
The spa is technically open to non-guests, but same-day slots on Flamands Bay are unicorn-rare in high season. Email spa.stbarth@chevalblanc.com at least a week ahead — and specifically request the outdoor pavilion rather than an indoor cabin, because it books out first and staff won't upsell you into it. If you're doing a longer ritual, come 45 minutes early to use the sauna and the sea-view relaxation terrace; day guests often skip it and miss half the point.
The Practical Stuff
Location: inside Cheval Blanc St-Barth, Baie des Flamands, on the north-west coast about 10 minutes' drive from Gustavia and 5 from the airport. Hours: daily, 10am–8pm. Reservations essential — call +590 590 27 58 60 or email spa.stbarth@chevalblanc.com. Treatments run roughly 60–120 minutes; expect luxury-hotel pricing (think €200+ for a signature massage, more for the pavilion and four-hand rituals). Valet parking on-site; arrive in a cover-up as you'll want to linger by the beach afterwards.
