The Experience
Le P'tit Morne is less a hotel than an anchor for exploring the wilder side of St Barth. The 3-star residence sits on a bend of the Route de Colombier, high enough that every one of its 30 m² studios opens onto a private terrace framing the Caribbean. It's family-run, unhurried, and unapologetically low-key: no restaurant, no lobby bar, no concierge in a linen suit — just a pool, a stack of sun loungers, fiber Wi-Fi, and the sound of tree frogs after dark. Guests slip into a rhythm of espresso on the terrace, a swim before the sun climbs, groceries from the little shops in Colombier or Flamands, and long afternoons that end back on the terrace watching the light go pink over Anse des Flamands. It's the kind of place where the same couples return year after year and quietly refuse to tell their friends about it.
What to Try
Book one of the 'Prime' category studios — the Superior with dual terraces or the 'New Moon' Deluxe — for the widest wraparound sea views. Use the fully-equipped kitchenette the way locals do: pick up fresh fish from the fishermen at Corossol in the morning, a baguette and a bottle of rosé from the Colombier mini-market, and skip a restaurant night. Then walk (don't drive) the 10 minutes down to the trailhead for Anse de Colombier — the beach can only be reached on foot or by boat, which is exactly why it stays empty.

The Colombier Beach trailhead is a five-minute stroll from the residence gate, and the last stretch of paved road ends in a small, always-full car lot. Staying at Le P'tit Morne means you can leave your rental Mini parked at the property, hike down in flip-flops with a cooler bag, and be back before the day-trippers who circle for parking ever find a spot. Do the hike early — before 9 a.m. — and you'll have the sand almost to yourself, with a decent chance of spotting sea turtles in the shallows on the swim back to shore.
