The Experience
Pull off the Anse des Flamands road and you'll almost miss the driveway - which is the point. Book the all-in-one rate that bundles a rental car, because Merlette without wheels gets small fast and St Barth's real pleasures (Colombier hike, Saline beach, Toiny surf break) are all a short twisty drive away. Grab breakfast pastries from the bakery just down the road, then walk barefoot to Flamands and stake out the shady end near the old Cheval Blanc (ex-Isle de France) rocks. Cook in one night using fresh catch from the fishermen at Corossol - the kitchen and BBQ terrace are the whole point of staying somewhere with a kitchen on this island.
