Grand Cul-de-Sac's constant trade winds make this the best base on the island for kite and wing-foil lessons, but they also mean the beach is breezier than Flamands or Gouverneur — request an ocean-view suite on the western wing for the calmest terrace, and book the Nordic baths for late afternoon when the light on the lagoon is at its best.
