Tucked into Lorient — the quiet, palm-shaded village on St Barth's north coast — this beach house trades Gustavia's glitter for the island's more soulful rhythm. You're a sandy-footed stroll from Anse de Lorient, a crescent of pale sand that draws surfers at dawn and families by mid-morning, and just around the corner from the whitewashed 19th-century church and old cemetery that give the village its postcard character. Days here have a rhythm: coffee on the terrace with the trade winds coming off the Atlantic, a swim before breakfast, a run to Kiki-é Mo or JoJo Burger for a picnic lunch, and evenings watching the sky turn coral over the water. Because Lorient is central, you can be in Gustavia's harbor bars, Saline's wild beach, or Saint-Jean's boutiques in under fifteen minutes — but you'll rarely want to leave.
What to Try
Start your morning at Anse de Lorient itself — the left side of the beach is calm and family-friendly, while the right breaks reliably enough that it's where local surfers learned. Grab a cold pressed juice and a sandwich from Kiki-é Mo (the village's beloved deli-market), and don't miss a late-afternoon rum punch at the tiny beach shack Le Jojo. On Sundays, wander over to the historic Église Notre-Dame de l'Assomption before its bells call the village to mass.

Lorient beach has two personalities separated by about 100 meters of sand: the western end (near the cemetery) is glass-calm and shaded by sea grape trees — perfect for kids and reading — while the eastern end catches a shore break that's ideal for bodysurfing. Set up at whichever suits your mood; you can swap in five minutes.

Bring reef-safe sunscreen — pharmacies stock it but at St Barth prices.
