The Experience
Push open the door and the pace shifts from the sun-baked bustle of Gustavia's shopping strip to something calmer and more considered. Wooden display cases line the walls, showcasing frames from Jacques Marie Mage, Moscot, Cutler & Gross, Cartier and Céline — the kind of curation you'd expect in Paris or LA, not a Caribbean harbor town. The opticians work in French, English and enough Italian to handle the megayacht crowd, and they treat a €90 replacement nose-pad with the same attention as a €1,200 custom fitting. If you need an eye exam, they book through Doctolib and can turn around new prescription lenses faster than most mainland shops. It's a proper optician — not a souvenir stand — which is precisely why it has a loyal following.
What to Try
Ask to see the numbered Peter & May St. Barth limited-edition collaboration — the shop's signature 'you can only get it here' piece and an instant collector item. Beyond that, the Jacques Marie Mage wall is the browse-worthy centerpiece, and the Moscot selection is deeper than most stateside dealers carry. If you're active, request the technical sports frames tucked behind the counter (great for sailing glare). Contact-lens wearers can walk in for a same-visit renewal if you know your prescription.

Come mid-morning right after opening (around 9:30) or late afternoon after 5 — the shop closes for a proper island lunch break from 1:00 to 3:00, and the midday cruise crowd can pack the tiny space. If you've booked a villa for the week, drop off your prescription on day one and pick up finished lenses before you fly home; they're used to the yacht/villa turnaround and will hold pieces at the counter. Bring the case for your existing frames — they'll clean and adjust them for free, even if you don't buy anything.
