Food Locker: St Barth's Late-Night Comfort-Food Hideout
Burgers, kebabs, and French tacos on the road to Flamands—no reservations, no attitude.
Why Go
On an island synonymous with candlelit tables and champagne on the sand, Food Locker is the refreshingly un-fussy counterpoint: a Merlette snack joint pumping out double tacos and stacked burgers until closing, when villa cravings hit hardest and the fine-dining rooms have already turned off the lights.
The Experience
Tucked along the Route des Flamands in Merlette—the ridge between Gustavia and the Flamands beaches—Food Locker leans hard into the snack-and-chill format. Order at the counter or dial for delivery (minimum €25, dropped to Gustavia, Lorient, Saint-Jean, Colombier and Saline in 30–45 minutes) and expect the kind of hearty, sauce-forward plates you actually want after a day sailing to Colombier or floating at Flamands. The room is unpretentious, the vibe is islander-locals rather than yacht-week, and evenings only means it's very much a dinner-and-after-the-beach spot rather than a lunch break.
What to Try
The French-style tacos are the calling card—folded, pressed, and stuffed with cheese sauce (Simple €18, Double or Triple up to €22.70 if you're seriously hungry). Build-your-own burgers and kebabs both start at €15.60 and let you pick bread, protein, sauce, and sides. Sharing? The two- or three-meat platters (€28.70–€35.90) come with fries and salad and are the best value on the menu. Sides like mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, wings, and onion rings (€4.80–€10.80) round out the tex-mex corner, and there's a proper kids menu at €10.80.
Insider Tip
Kitchen doors open at 18:30 but delivery doesn't roll until 19:00, and Wednesday is completely dark—plan around it or you'll be scrambling. Friday and Saturday get an extra half-hour cushion (until 22:30), so if you're coming off a late beach day at Flamands, aim for the weekend and order ahead: the tacos press best fresh out of the plancha and hold up beautifully on the short ride down to Colombier or Saint-Jean.
