Why Go

Half fashion boutique, half photography gallery, Clic is where you drift in for a cotton cover-up and drift out with a Bensimon print, a stack of art books, and a new definition of "understated luxury." On an island wall-to-wall with logo boutiques, this white-walled Gustavia space is the one that feels like a curator's living room.

The Experience

Tucked into a low Creole-style building on Rue de la République, a block back from the Gustavia harbor, Clic opens up into a hushed, minimalist white space that feels more Chelsea gallery than duty-free strip. Founder Christiane Celle (the former Calypso stylist who launched the shop in 2008) treats retail as editorial: rotating photography exhibitions from names like Patrick Demarchelier, Gilles Bensimon, Antoine Verglas, and Massimo Vitali hang above rails of Ulla Johnson, Xirena, and Maria Cher. Coffee-table monographs stack on driftwood tables next to handmade ceramics, artisanal sandals, and organic linens in the softest sand and shell tones. Staff are low-key and knowledgeable — they'll happily pull a limited-edition print from the flat files or point you toward the newest small-batch designer without any hard sell. It's the kind of place stylish repeat visitors treat as a first-day ritual: pop in, see what's on the walls, learn who's in town.

What to Try

Browse the photography book wall first — it's one of the best-curated selections in the Caribbean and includes signed and limited editions you truly can't get elsewhere on-island. Pull a Ulla Johnson dress or Xirena button-down for effortless yacht-to-dinner wear, then check the small-goods table for handmade ceramic tumblers, woven straw totes, and Christiane Celle's own line of resort pieces. If a photograph on the wall stops you, ask about print sizes — most images are available in multiple editions, and they'll arrange shipping.

Insider Tip

Follow @clicstbarth on Instagram before you fly in — the shop hosts pop-up exhibitions, artist trunk shows, and book signings during high season (December–March and around the Bucket Regatta) that aren't advertised anywhere else. Stop by mid-morning when the light through the front windows is best and the after-beach crowd hasn't rolled in yet; ask if there's an unhung print in the back — the archive is deeper than what's on display.
