The Experience
Colombier is the quiet corner of St Barth — the leeward western tip once anchored by the Rockefeller estate, and still the address islanders reach for when they want to disappear. Vina sits on Impasse Dilingue, a hairpin lane threading through bougainvillea, cactus and hibiscus above the sea. Days here have a rhythm you set yourself: coffee on the terrace while the trade winds move through the sea grape, a slow drive down to Flamands for a swim, an afternoon pulled back up the hill for the shade. It is closer in feel to renting a friend's pied-à-terre than checking into a hotel, which is precisely the appeal. Gustavia's yachts and the airport at Saint-Jean are ten minutes away, but the moment you close the gate behind you, the island's noise drops out.
What to Try
Lace up proper shoes and take the Flamands trail from Anse des Flamands around the coastal cliff to Anse de Colombier — a 25-minute walk that ends at a sugar-sand crescent with no road, no beach club, and a resident population of sea turtles and leopard rays. Pack water and a snorkel; there is nothing at the beach but shade under the sea grape. Come back for a sunset apéro on the terrace with a cold rosé from the Marché U in Saint-Jean — the light on this side of the island is the reason people build here.
Insider Tip
The public path down to Colombier from the end of the road is the steeper 45-minute route and it gets brutal at midday — do it early, or drive to Flamands and take the gentler cliff walk instead. And if you're arriving on a Saturday, stop at the boulangerie in Lorient for the last of the morning's pain au chocolat before the villa; nothing near Colombier opens on Sunday.

Allow 10 minutes to Gustavia, 8 minutes to the airport at Saint-Jean, and 5 minutes down to Anse des Flamands. There is no on-site restaurant or reception; the apartment is self-catering, so plan a first-day stop at the Marché U or the smaller Maya's To Go for provisions.
